Longevity Fest, Living Better

A weekend dedicated to the new frontiers of longevity. Grand finale featuring Steve McCurry, the 2026 Costa Smeralda Longevity Award

On October 3 and 4, the Longevity Fest Costa Smeralda returns to Porto Cervo—an event dedicated to the culture of longevity that brings together doctors, researchers, academics, and innovators to discuss prevention, active aging, and new perspectives in medicine.

Conceived and directed by filmmaker Pietro Mereu, the Festival is part of the Longevity Weeks Costa Smeralda 2026, promoted by the Costa Smeralda Consortium in partnership with Smeralda Holding, scheduled to run through October 11.

Now in its fifth edition, the Longevity Fest focuses not only on extending life but, above all, on quality of life: from nutrition to biotechnology, to the applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare.Francesco Balducci, a surgeon and expert in anti-aging medicine, will open the Festival by presenting his book Medicine of Longevity: Strategies for Prolonged Youth and Healthy Longevity.

Guests will include Maddalena Adorno, a scientist and biotech entrepreneur; Giovanni Mario Pes, one of the scholars who contributed to the discovery of Sardinia’s Blue Zone; Alessandro Luciani, a senior scientist at the University of Zurich; and Alessandro Melis, a professor at the New York Institute of Technology. There will also be a focus on the relationship between longevity and the local environment with Antonio Usai, Emma Bird, and Gianluigi Tiddia, while the second day will be dedicated to the new frontiers of medicine with, among others, Giovanni Scapagnini, Francesco Landi, Antonio Nieddu, Pier Luigi Scapicchio, and Filippo Nigro,

Steve McCurry

.The Festival will conclude with the presentation of the Costa Smeralda 2026 Longevity Award to Steve McCurry, one of the most important contemporary photographers. Following the award ceremony, McCurry will engage in a conversation with Pietro Mereu, reflecting on his career through images, travels, and stories gathered from around the world. The events will take place at the Longevity Pavilion, in the “Il Gabbiano” parking lot in Porto Cervo, with free admission.
