Things to do in Porto Cervo with children
Ideas and tips for a family holiday in northern Sardinia
From sailing lessons in the picturesque gulf to white beaches with shallow, clear waters and kid-friendly restaurants, northern Sardinia’s most exclusive destination can be fully enjoyed also with children.
For a pleasant day at the beach, Piccolo Pevero beach, very close to Porto Cervo, offers beach-goers a glimpse of what the area offers. With ample facilities to provide families with everything they need, the beach offers paid parking just steps from the shore, lounger and umbrella rentals, dinghy rentals, and a bar where you can enjoy a leisurely lunch or a snack.
Spiaggia del Piccolo PeveroThe Spiaggia del Principe (Prince’s Beach), known by locals as Poltu Di Li Cogghj, also owes its name to the story that this small, crescent-shaped beach was Prince Aga Khan’s favourite. Its fine sand and shallow waters, perfect for little ones, make it ideal for those who want to stroll along the seashore and spend the day in a natural landscape, encircled by the large red rocks that characterise these coasts.
Spiaggia del PrincipeThere is a beach bar, and umbrellas and loungers are available for day rental. Children aged 6 and up who are passionate about sailing or want to learn the basics can sign up for courses on the J24, 7-meter boats, offered by the YCCS Sailing School of Yacht Club Costa Smeralda from May to October.
The headquarters are located in the YCCS Sports Centre, while sea trips take place from Giglio beach. Recognized by the Italian Sailing Federation, it operates in collaboration with Franco Pistone, a second-level FIV instructor with extensive sailing and regatta experience.
Orto del Cala di VolpeAfter a day at the seaside, and perhaps sailing, a good idea might be a stop in the shade of the famous Cala di Volpe Garden, a small Eden with aromatic plants and fruit trees. It’s almost time for dinner.
Il PomodoroYou can choose to enjoy a delicious sandwich right in the Piazza del Principe in Porto Cervo, where the Panino Giusto team prepares express dishes served right in the legendary square. Or perhaps you can opt for a delicious pizza at the storied Il Pomodoro pizzeria. With its relaxed atmosphere that’s perfect for families with children, the restaurant offers a wide variety of pizzas and traditional Sardinian dishes that are enjoyed by adults and children alike.
