Where to watch the sunset in Porto Cervo (and surroundings)

The most picturesque places to admire the sunset on the northeast coast of Sardinia

The north-east coast of Sardinia is one of the island's most popular destinations, famous for its white sandy beaches, crystal clear sea, and perfect views. Although this part of the island is particularly suitable for admiring the sunrise, there is no shortage of spectacular places to experience unforgettable sunsets, surrounded by nature, exclusive venues, and breathtaking viewpoints. Discovering where to watch the sunset means adding an unmissable experience to your vacation. At any time of year, even out of season, when this coast shows its authentic and contemplative side, it is ideal for those seeking an intimate sunset experience, far from the noise and crowds. Between autumn and spring, in fact, the clear days, crisp air, and softer colors make this stretch of coastline particularly charming in the evening hours.

One of the most iconic places to watch the sunset is undoubtedly Phi Beach in Baja Sardinia. Here, the sun slowly descends over the sea, creating a unique atmosphere, made even more evocative in high season by the music, cocktails, and elegance of the location. It is the ideal place for those who want to combine scenery and fun, experiencing one of the most iconic moments of summer in Porto Cervo.Starting in autumn, the experience becomes more contemplative but no less intense: the empty beach and silence allow you to enjoy the beauty of unspoiled nature.

Faro di Capo Testa

Another evocative place is Capo Testa, a strip of granite shaped by the wind that faces Corsica. Here, the sun slowly sets behind the sculpted rocks, creating plays of light and shadow that change from minute to minute. In the low season, the silence is almost total, allowing you to fully enjoy the sound of the sea and the colors that fade from yellow to orange to purple.

Another stop much loved by visitors is Capo d'Orso, near Palau. From the panoramic viewpoint dominated by the famous bear-shaped rock, you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the La Maddalena archipelago. At sunset, the view becomes even more evocative, with the sun setting between the islands, creating a natural spectacle of great impact.

Faro di Capo Ferro

Continuing south, Punta Sardegna and Capo Ferro offer extraordinary panoramic views. From these heights, the gaze embraces the La Maddalena archipelago, which is tinged with pastel shades at sunset. Calm days offer perfect reflections on the water, while windy days add to the authentic and wild charm typical of these places. Even wilder, Capo Ferro, in the Porto Cervo area, is a place to mark on your calendar. The lighthouse, granite cliffs, and open view of the sea offer a quiet and charming sunset. It is perfect for an evening stroll or for taking spectacular photographs, especially on clear days.

Other beaches along the coast, often considered only summer destinations, also become ideal places for off-season sunsets. Spiaggia del Principe, Liscia Ruja, and Cala di Volpe take on an almost metaphysical atmosphere: the slanting light caresses the light sand, the sea slowly darkens, and the landscape seems suspended in time.

Tramonto a San Pantaleo

The inland area should not be overlooked. From the granite hills of San Pantaleo, a small village nestled among the rocks, the sunset offers a different but equally exciting perspective. Here, the sun disappears behind the mountains, illuminating the peaks and valleys with a golden light, while the sky opens up in wide chromatic shades.
Among the less crowded but ideal places for tourists seeking tranquility is Cala del Faro, in Porto Cervo. This small beach is perfect for a relaxing sunset, far from the chaos, with the sun disappearing behind the hills and the sea tinged with golden reflections

Finally, it is worth moving slightly towards Cannigione, overlooking the Gulf of Arzachena. Here, the sunsets are particularly impressive thanks to the western exposure and the view of the moored boats. It is the ideal place to end the day with dinner on the seafront or a romantic stroll.
