It is the event that officially marks the beginning of the Emerald tourist season, and with its more than three thousand attendees during the four-day exhibition, it christened the 2025-branded summer at its best.

The Porto Cervo Wine & Food Festival, a boutique event dedicated to the excellence of Sardinian and national wine production, closed its 14th edition yesterday with a successful turnout. This edition was one of big numbers, as Mario Ferraro, ceo of Smeralda Holding pointed out during the opening ceremony. “This year it has grown even more, from 20 exhibitors in the first year we have increased to almost 100 exhibitors, of which 60 percent are Sardinian, and there is even some foreign presence,” Ferraro said. The ribbon-cutting ceremony of the event organized by the Cala di Volpe Hotel and Cervo Hotel was held by godmother Giusy Meloni, TV host, actress and voice actor who kicked off the prestigious event on Friday, May 9 at the Cervo Conference Center in Porto Cervo

“It is always a great success in terms of participation, - commented Franco Mulas, Area Manager Costa Smeralda and creator of the event - We have reached the fourteenth edition, we have missed only one due to Covid, for the rest we are always on time.” Food and wine, glamorous and fun-filled evenings, but also important awards for wines: on Saturday evening, during the Fuori Fiera hosted in the Piazzetta of Porto Cervo, in front of Nuna al Sole, the PCWFF Awards were given out following a tasting carried out by the sommeliers of the Ais, Sardinia delegation, coordinated by Attilia Medda. For Charmat Method Sparkling Wines, the award went to Foss Marai, with Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze Docg 2024. For Classical Method Sparkling Wines, the award went to Villa Franciacorta, with RNA Metodo Classico Millesimato 2007. For National Whites and Rosés, the awards both went to La Viarte, with Friulano Liende Doc 2023 and Rosè Liende 2024. For Sardinian Whites, the awards went to Tenute Olianas, with Vermentino di Gallura Superiore Olianas Docg 2023 and to Cantina Mesa, with Galesa, Uve autoctone bianche, Valli di Porto Pino Igt 2021. For National Red Wines, the award goes to Schiopetto with Rivarossa, Igt Venezia Giulia 2019. Rivarossa, Igt Venezia Giulia 2019. Finally, for Sardinian Red Wines, the award went to Tenute Asinara with Cayenna Igt 2018.
All the award-winning wines will thus become part of Taste of Sardinia, the initiative through which Marriott Costa Smeralda presents Italian excellence around the world.
New this year was the Pcwff Spirits Challenge, a challenge in which the protagonists were the nine competing spirits evaluated by the young talents of Ipsar Costa Smeralda, future professionals in the sector.First place went to Nettare di Sardegna, with a cocktail made with Amaretto di Sarule, composed of sweet almonds, bitter almonds, orange peel and caramelized sugar.
Second runner-up Rena 41, with its eponymous gin handcrafted with local botanicals ranging from local juniper, helichrysum, myrtle and lemon. .

Finally, third runner-up was Amistà, with Nizza Vermouth, a combination of red wine from Nizza Docg grapes and aromatic herbs. These are personalities who have distinguished themselves in the world of wine and food as true excellences of the island, which the organizers of the Porto Cervo Wine & Food Festival wanted to reward.
The Wine Ambassador Award went to Denise Dessena, a wine company agent, sommelier taster and speaker for Ais, the Italian Sommelier Association.
The Award for Couple's Work in the Wine World went to Nicola Peano and Lucia Orunesu: two agents in the wine world with an original story, since they have been on their new professional and life path for only five years, after a career as engineer he and lawyer she.Next went to Danilo Farina and his wife Daria Cambedda, owners of the Mannalita company in Oliena, producers of goat cheeses, the Tradition and Innovation Award.
