Delta Air Lines launches a direct flight from Olbia to New York JFK
The American airline is launching the first nonstop flight between Sardinia and the United States
A new link between Sardinia and the United States officially launches today. Starting today, Thursday, May 21, 2026, Delta Air Lines is launching the first direct flight between Olbia and New York-JFK, the only nonstop flight between the island and the U.S. This is a strategic development for international tourism and for the growth of Sardinia as a destination in the North American market.
Operated four times a week in partnership with Air France, KLM, and Virgin Atlantic, the new route marks a historic milestone for Costa Smeralda Airport and the entire regional tourism sector.
The new direct Olbia-New York JFK flight
The route between Olbia and New York will be operated by a 211-seat Boeing 767-300, configured with four classes of service: Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort, and Delta Main.
The flight will not only provide direct access to Manhattan and the U.S. East Coast but also allow travelers to continue on to numerous destinations in North America thanks to connecting flights available at Delta’s JFK hub.
The new Delta flight will depart from Olbia at 11:20 a.m. (Thursday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday) and arrive at New York-JFK at 2:46 p.m., while the flight from New York (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday, Monday) will take off at 6:10 p.m. and land in Sardinia at 9:00 a.m. the following morning. The route will operate four times a week during the summer season.

The Delta One cabin offers fully reclining seats, seasonal four-course menus created by international chefs, and a selection of premium wines and champagnes, including Taittinger. Also making its debut on board is the collaboration between Delta and Missoni, which has designed the amenity kits, bedding, and exclusive design details.
Delta Premium Select and Entertainment
Delta Premium Select passengers enjoy more spacious seats, greater recline, and dedicated services. Meals, beverage service, and over 1,000 hours of entertainment via Delta Studio are available in all cabins.
Free Wi-Fi and new Delta One Lounges
Among the new features introduced by the airline is free, high-speed Delta Sync Wi-Fi, available on flights between Italy and the United States thanks to a partnership with T-Mobile. Delta also continues to invest in the airport experience with the new Delta One Lounges. The first lounge, opened at New York-JFK, features spaces with a design inspired by the city, a brasserie-style restaurant, a cocktail bar, a Missoni-designed library, and a wellness area.
The new Olbia-New York route further strengthens Delta’s presence in Italy and consolidates Sardinia’s role as a high-end international destination, increasingly attractive to American tourists.
