The Hotel Cala di Volpe reopens on April 16 and kicks off the 2026 season

Porto Cervo’s iconic luxury hotel reopens its doors, offering design, signature cuisine, and Mediterranean views.

On April 16, the iconic Hotel Cala di Volpe officially reopens its doors, kicking off the new tourist season on the Costa Smeralda®. Following the opening of the Cervo Hotel on March 27, the Cala di Volpe also reaffirms its central role in the destination’s tourist season, reinforcing a hospitality model increasingly geared toward an extended season. The opening, in fact, precedes the long weekends of April 25 and May 1, a period during which the hotel invites guests to experience Sardinia in its springtime splendor, with mild weather, the tranquility of the coast, and direct flights from major European airports.

Managed by Marriott International on behalf of Smeralda Holding, a company indirectly controlled by the Qatar Investment Authority, Cala di Volpe remains one of the most iconic destinations for international luxury in Sardinia, a landmark capable of attracting a global clientele and consolidating the Costa Smeralda’s position among the Mediterranean’s most exclusive destinations.

Conceived in the 1960s by architect and sculptor Jacques Couëlle, the hotel remains a manifesto of organic architecture applied to hospitality. The recent restyling project, designed by French architects Bruno Moinard and Claire Bétaille of 4BI & Associés, has successfully reinterpreted the spaces with a focus on aesthetic continuity, highlighting natural materials, textured surfaces, and the play of light. Some of the 121 rooms and suites were also redesigned by the Italian firm Dordoni Architetti, preserving the original spirit of the structure while introducing new levels of contemporary comfort.

Among the most exclusive experiences is the Harrods Suite, designed by Harrods Interior Design Studio, comprising separate rooms, a private wine cellar, a marble bar, and a panoramic terrace with an infinity pool overlooking the bay of Cala di Volpe, one of the most iconic views of the Costa Smeralda.

The culinary offerings confirm the hotel’s position within the international fine dining scene. The Le Grand restaurant offers refined cuisine in a timeless setting, while the Atrium Bar remains one of the most picturesque spots for an aperitif at sunset. The experience extends to the Pevero Golf Club, recently awarded the Best Wine List at the Perrier-Jouët Champagne Golf Restaurant Awards, a testament to the growing quality of the destination’s food and wine offerings.

Wellness finds its ultimate expression at the Shiseido Spa, an immersive environment where rituals inspired by Japanese tradition combine with advanced technologies for holistic journeys of regeneration and rebalancing. The experience is rounded out by a wide range of sports and leisure activities, including indoor and outdoor fitness areas, state-of-the-art tennis and padel courts, the Mouratoglou Academy, and the renowned Pevero Golf Club designed by Robert Trent Jones: an 18-hole course nestled in the Mediterranean scrub, amidst granite rocks, natural lakes, and the mistral wind.

With its reopening on April 16, Cala di Volpe thus reaffirms its status as an iconic destination for international luxury hospitality, capable of evolving over time without losing its identity and helping to reinforce Sardinia’s position as one of the most exclusive and sought-after destinations in the Mediterranean.
