Andrea Bocelli in concert at Hotel Romazzino

Aug. 9, Bocelli's voice meets Romazzino's timeless elegance for an unforgettable night

From the Metropolitan in New York to the Colosseum, from the White House to Buckingham Palace, the Egyptian pyramids and the Jubilee stage: Andrea Bocelli has performed in the world’s most iconic places before popes and presidents, monarchs and millions of spectators. His career has exceeded all bounds: over 90 million discs sold, more than 30 albums and dozens of international awards. This August, he returns to Porto Cervo and the Romazzino hotel, for an exclusive and eagerly-awaited concert.

Every stage of Bocelli’s life has been an essential step in building his musical career. The most decisive moments include his 1998 debut in La Bohème, his first recital at the Metropolitan in 2011 and his meeting with Luciano Pavarotti, who listened to his recording and wanted him by his side. That was the moment his career took off.

Bocelli’s voice cuts across genres and generations, leaving a deep mark on the contemporary music scene. From his duets with Sarah Brightman and Céline Dion to his collaborations with Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Laura Pausini and Stevie Wonder, as well as joint projects with his children Amos, Matteo and Virginia, every experience along the way has added a new string to his bow.

It all began in the Tuscan town of Lajatico, Bocelli’s birthplace and today home to his Teatro del Silenzio. Every summer, this amphitheatre in the hills comes to life to host a concert named after the singer, attracting fans from all over the world. Bocelli has described the theatre as an extraordinary kind of madness, the sign of a magic that continues to astonish him.

It was right here in this gentle landscape that his passion for music came into being, fed by piano lessons, a love of opera and his mother’s encouragement. In the nineties, a fortuitous encounter led to Pavarotti listening to his recording, and that was the start of everything. Since then, there has been a succession of memorable performances: in front of three different popes, in legendary opera houses, and in collaboration with the world’s most famous singers.

Today Bocelli lives in Versilia, where the sea brings balance to his life. He says he originally chose the area for health reasons, but fell in love with the harmony of coastline and mountains, the quiet winters and vibrant summers in a landscape that combines nature, joy and spirituality.

Despite his global fame, he has always followed one guiding principe: serve beauty. He believes music chose him, and his mission is to restore peace and harmony, because genuine beauty is inextricably linked to goodness. In 2011, this vision led to the creation, with his wife Veronica, of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, a humanitarian organisation with a focus on education as the key to growth and development. In just a few years, the Foundation has raised and distributed over 60 million euros to build schools, health centres and community projects. Bocelli himself considers this work a real privilege. Ultimately, his voice is just this: a gift that goes beyond the notes, reaching the heart and offering the world a profound and shining idea of beauty.
